The main goal of the BRIDGE project is to develop precise, less invasive, and more effective therapies that will improve patients’ quality of life and contribute to the advancement of medicine.

The research group is focused on finding solutions for the regenerative medicine of barrier tissues (e.g. the skin, the surface of the eye), as they are the first line of defence against external factors.

The initiative aims to develop various compounds needed in the field of personalised medicine, such as bioactive dressings and hydrogels that promote healing and regeneration, as well as innovative drug delivery systems. At the same time, the research team wants to develop new therapies and diagnostic tools that complement one another, e.g. AI-supported optical imaging platforms for real-time monitoring of tissue remodelling and regeneration.

Michał Marszałł

Bio:

Michał Marszałł is a Full Professor at Collegium Medicum (CM) in Bydgoszcz, Poland, where he is the Head of the Faculty of Medicinal Chemistry, and the Vice-Dean for Science at the Faculty of Pharmacy. Professor Marszałł is the author and co-author of over 100 publications (as of June 2026), which have been published in renowned journals, such as Analytical Chemistry and Drug Discovery News.

Professor Marszałł’s research interests include the improvements to instrumental analytical methods used in pharmaceutical analysis and bioanalytics – in particular, chromatographic techniques with mass detection (UHPLC-MS/MS); the design of enzymatic systems for the synthesis of chiral compounds (drugs) using magnetic nanoparticles as catalyst supports; metabolomics in the context of diagnosing and understanding the changes that occur during carcinogenesis; and the applications of advanced chemometric methods in biological and pharmaceutical analysis – including quantitative structure-retention relationships (QSRR) and drug delivery systems – including inhaler formulations.
