Research Group of Biofuels and Biomass Bioengineering (3-Bio)

Team Leader: Krzysztof Zienkiewicz The Research Group of Biofuels and Biomass Bioengineering (3-Bio) conducts interdisciplinary research on the use of microalgae and plants as sources of renewable energy and sustainable feedstocks for the emerging bioeconomy.

BioKol – Research on Biocolloids

Team Leader: Paweł Pomastowski BioKol is an interdisciplinary research group operating at the Institute of Advanced Studies at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. The team’s concept is to combine the physical chemistry of colloids and biocolloids, nanotechnology, microbiology, and modern instrumental analysis in order to translate basic research into practical solutions for healthcare, biotechnology, and industry.

HUMECO – Research on Human Ecology

Team Leader: Adam Izdebski HUMECO is a research group focused on human ecology, led by Professor Adam Izdebski—a historian, psychologist, and professor of biological sciences. For over a decade, he has led interdisciplinary research teams focusing on human ecology and environmental history.

MA-LAB – Research on Molecular Astrophysics

Team Leader: Agata Karska The MA-LAB group’s research focuses on a detailed description of star formation across a wide range of masses and on determining the influence of the environment’s physicochemical properties on the course and efficiency of this process.

OMICS

Team Leader: Marcin Gołębiewski The Omics Methods Research Team is an interdisciplinary group working in the field of cutting-edge multi-omic research on organisms and environments. Its main goal is to conduct comprehensive analyses encompassing genomics, transcriptomics, epigenetics, metagenomics, and metatranscriptomics, integrated with advanced bioinformatics and statistical analysis.
