The Omics Methods Research Team is an interdisciplinary group working in the field of cutting-edge multi-omic research on organisms and environments. Its main goal is to conduct comprehensive analyses encompassing genomics, transcriptomics, epigenetics, metagenomics, and metatranscriptomics, integrated with advanced bioinformatics and statistical analysis.
A particular strength of the team is its ability to carry out the entire research process: from sample collection and preparation, through nucleic acid isolation, library construction, and sequencing, to data interpretation and preparation of results for publication.
The team’s scientific activity focuses on three main areas: plant biology, medical biology, and molecular ecology. In the field of plant biology, research covers the molecular mechanisms of stress resistance and host-microbiome interactions. In medical biology, the team analyzes the relationships between the genome, epigenome, and microbiome and human diseases. In molecular ecology, research is conducted on the impact of environmental changes—including anthropogenic changes—on the structure and function of microbiomes.
The OMICS team bases its work on many years of project experience, laboratory expertise and advanced bioinformatics tools enabling the analysis of large sequences of data. A key element of its mission is also the development of more cost-effective and efficient molecular analysis methods, allowing research to be scaled up whilst making rational use of resources. The team also acts as an expert resource for other research groups at Nicolaus Copernicus University and external partners, supporting the development of omics research in medicine, agronomy and environmental protection.
