FemLife-OMICS: Research Team for Women’s Health Across the Lifespan

FemLife-OMICS is a research initiative focused on understanding women’s health throughout their life cycle, starting with the earliest stages of oocyte development, through reproductive aging.

It also focuses on the chronic diseases and types of cancer women face. The project investigates how molecular, metabolic, microbiological, environmental, and social factors collectively shape fertility, reproductive longevity, susceptibility to cancer, and overall well-being in today’s world marked by delayed childbearing, rising infertility rates, metabolic disorders and hormone-dependent cancers.

The research is organised into four complementary modules:
– ChronoFert – Reproductive Chronobiology and Oocyte Aging,
– OncoMap – Mapping the Relationships Between Cancer and Reproductive Health,
– EndoMetrix – Endometriosis and Metabolic Disorders,
– BioMod – Bioactive Compounds and Immune Modulation.

Anna Bajek

Bio:

Anna Bajek is a Full Professor of Medical Biology at the Department of Oncology, Collegium Medicum, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland. She has coordinated and participated in numerous national and international research projects funded by the Polish National Science Centre (NCN), the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), and the European Union. Her research focuses on translational oncology, women’s health, microbiome and metabolome interactions, regenerative medicine, biomaterials, and the development of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies using advanced in vitro, ex vivo, and in silico models. Professor Bajek also investigates the health-promoting potential of naturally derived bioactive compounds and their delivery systems. She actively collaborates with interdisciplinary and international research teams to translate scientific discoveries into innovative solutions for human health.
