IAS@NCU has just wrapped up three intensive days in Bachotek, where the research teams within NCU’s Priority Research Areas had a chance to meet and exchange ideas.
The aim of the meeting was to create a space for the teams to get to know one another better, to share experiences, research methods and ideas, and to explore new points of intersection between disciplines. We discussed interdisciplinary collaboration, communication, teamwork, leadership and responsibility.
An important part of the meeting were the presentations on the research challenges faced by each team, seeing what areas potential collaborations can arise from, examples of successful interdisciplinary projects, and the search for that ‘first joint step’ — a point of contact, an idea or an action worth developing once we return to our regular work.
We believe interdisciplinarity begins with people coming together, but it can only take on real significance when it leads to shared questions, research, and projects.
We would like to thank all participants for their attendance, openness and commitment. We hope that some of the discussions begun in Bachotek will lead to future projects.
